The Association «The Friends of the Children’s Home of Nicosia» was founded in 2004 with the aim of supporting the children in the Nicosia Children’s Home which is under the care of the Social Welfare Services.
In 2025, the Association modified its Charter to include the Nicosia Adolescent Shelters thereby assisting the Nicosia Welfare Office in providing a more complete service to children in care. With this modification the Association was renamed to «The Friends of the Children’s Home and Adolescents Shelters of Nicosia».
The Children’s home hosts children of ages 5 to 14 and the three Adolescents Shelters host adolescents of ages 14 to 18. These children are under State protection and came from families which could not cover their basic needs. As a result, many children have educational gaps, lack in emotional stability and face difficulties in terms of social integration.
By means of targeted care and support, the aim is to achieve a smoother social integration and better prospects for the children’s future.
The Association also supports the young men and women who have left the Adolescents Shelters on reaching adulthood, providing valuable assistance so as to enable their integration into society and to continue with their education. We aim to provide them with the knowledge and skills they need, in order to find a suitable and steady profession and build a life of independence and self-confidence.
The main objectives of our Association are:
For the achievement of the above objectives, our Society we are not an Association) raises the necessary funds through various events such as charity teas, dinners, raffles, bazaars and other events. Additionally, we receive valuable support from friends, companies, organisations and volunteers who provide time, materials and services or money donations. With this collective effort and the love of people who care, we can stand by the children and the adolescents responding to their needs with care and respect.
In every child’s smile, in every step forward, is your support. We heartfully thank you for standing by us and becoming part of the change in these children’s lives.

- The bridging of educational gaps by means of specialized and personal tuition so as to support educational progress.
- The cover of special needs like speech therapy, ergotherapy etc.

- The development of skills which enhance self–confidence, independence and social integration.
- The undertaking of every possible activity aimed at the proper development of the children and adolescents, enabling them to become socially integrated citizens.
- The improvement of the premises and any equipment required so as to create a warm and comfortable environment.
- The support and empowerment of young men and women who have left the Adolescents Shelters.
